Community Immersion explores Poverty
Thanks to our friends at Saint Vincent DePaul, Choices Cafe, and Venice on Vine for a great community immersion on October 16th focused on understanding poverty.
Over 40 members of the Give Back and greater Cincinnati Community came together to learn about SVDP, serve on their site and then embark on a scavenger hung throughout the West End and Over The Rhine.
Along the way, teams met members of the community, learned about the history, and got to understand a bit more about poverty in our city. Mike & Mike at Choices Cafe shared an inspiring story about how life change occurs through relationship and how their friendship has turned into a program linking high-school youth to those in need; through the relationships lives are changed.
Venice on Vine, a Social Enterprise which has great pizza and provides transitional employment for at-risk women, hosted our teams for lunch and further conversation.
The teams concluded atop Carew Tower where they took in an incredible view of the city and contemplated the variety of neighborhoods and the common challenges we face.
Thanks for everyone who joined us and we look forward to what ideas, action, and relationships grow from our day together.
